Christmas survival plan: part 3

Turkey is a Christmas highlight, served with fruity stuffing and lashings of cranberry sauce, so we're looking at what to buy, members' turkey recipes, how to carve (top tip: remove legs and wings first!) and a new recipe from Delia. Plus, why you shouldn't be passing on the port and some of my favourite food books of 2008.

Reading matter

Here is a roundup of some of my favourite cookbooks of the year, with an idea of who best to buy them for.

Don't pass on the port!

Pass the port...

Tip of the week:

Chutney Queen says:
‘Ask your butcher to bone the turkey for you (our local one doesn't even charge for this), or you can do it without too much difficulty yourself. It's so much easier to roast, and of course to carve - you get lovely even slices with the stuffing in middle (or thereabouts!).’
