Saw this recommended a few days ago, hadn't tried it so bought in the ingredients at the weekend. had it tonight and it is very good and doesn't take long to put together! I used cider instead of white wine and it worked perfectly, will definitely do it again.
i made this a couple of months ago Nenna...the wine was a little strong tho...flavour that is...was still very nice tho...will make it again...may try cider tho...what a good idea :-)
xx
It was me Nenna! It's a great recipe isn't it? I have since made the Goulash which is wonderful because it takes about 15 minutes to prepare, then you stick it in the oven for three hours. Last night I did the Trofie pasta Liguria which I have made before and is a great one for an after work supper. Tonight I am making the Wild Salmon Fishcakes with Watercress Mayo. Haven't done this one yet, so looking forward to seeing how it turns out!
I loved the chicken basque too and didn't find the wine too strong - I suppose it depends on what wine you use. I have the goulash in the oven as I type and it smells lovely - another easy recipe. You should all try the luxury fish pie - it is quite a fancy dish, delicous and and very easy to do.
I used dry cider because I read in one of Delia's books ages ago that it can be substituted for white wine so whenever I'm out of wine or can't spare it for cooking, I use dry cider. It works just fine, just as Delia says!
yes...the type of wine i used was a little overpowering for the dish...but that was my fault, not the recipes...
is a gorgeous dish tho...a bit like me i suppose lol (he says...modestly...and also exaggeratingly lol) xx
Now that you all mention it a few months ago I did a Delia recipe for chicken pies (was of this site) and she used dry cider to cook the chicken. It was really nice. I must revisit that recipe.
Cheers
