Does anyone have any experience of growing these. My son bought me one for my birthday in May. It now has little olives forming but I don't think they will ripen as there is no Sun to speak of, but it is growing shoots really well. What should feed it, I know I will have to "cuddle" it up for winter. Any thoughts welcome.

hi- you didnt mention if its in a pot or in the ground? -
i dont have experience of growing them in pots but we have lots of olives here and they are incredibly tough. as long as its got a nice sunny spot, has good drainage (but isnt left to dry out completely) it should be happy- (and protected from the frost like you mentioned). you can tidy up the shoots in the spring to encourage it to keep bushy. i quite like the osmocote tablets for feeding, as its a slow -release and you dont have to keep feeding every couple of weeks. hope thats of help- perhaps someone in the uk can give you some tips too :-)

Tabby,
My sister bought me and OH an olive tree as a pressie about 2 years ago and it is in the ground at the end of a shrubbery and is 6ft. It has lots of little olives on it but never fruits....perhaps I ought to feed it .....not sure what to do but it looks lovely....
