A Beautiful World, lets keep it so.
There are angels in my garden
I see their faces in the trees
And hear their gentle chattering
In the rustling of the leaves
There are palaces above me
Splendid towers in the sky
They’re here one moment, then are gone
As great white clouds roll by
There are wondrous seas around me
Not blue, but gold and green
These are the fields, where food is grown
And where no fish are seen
Just take a look around you
See beyond the here and now
The birds, the bees, the butterflies
And all the beauty that they show
For they may not be forever
Unless we take the time
To realise what we have right now
Is totally sublime.
We need to stand and take a look,
Avoid the making of mistakes
Ask what things matter to our world
And see the difference each could make
Our World is fragile, beautiful, no other like it seen
In all the wondrous universe she floats calmly and serene
But for how long can this be so……
………No one can ever know
So, please, give a little thoughtfulness
Before you cast your things aside
Ask could they be re-cycled, used again
And then do your bit with pride.
That's great Yummy. You and Ansastasia certainly have a flair for poetry.
Well written, Yummy
Like it, Yummy.
I read your poem , & liked it ,
What you say sure is the truth ,
so much of our planet's been destroyed ,
Since way back in my youth.
Little care it seems is taken
To keep our world unspoiled ,
Our ancestors would be in shock ,
For our future many toiled.
Respect for man & beast has gone
A throwaway society we now are ,
lack of concern for the planet ,
by now has gone too far.
The birds & bees are in decline ,
The ozone layer is wearing thin,
Landfill space is running out,
What's happening is a sin.
We are custodians of this planet ,
One day we must pass it on
to our Sons , & Daughters,
Without care , much will be gone.

Congratulations Yummy and Anastasia, beautiful poetry.
You're right Merrie, we can at least keep our own little corner clean and hope everybody else does theirs, but there's a chap goes around the main roads near here with a yellow jacket on, picking up litter into a black bin-bag, and he's not a council employee or anything he just does it. I must stop one day and let him know people do notice, but he might rope me in!!
