Hi All, Looks like the chosen recipe for September by a narrow margin will be Hung Shao Pork. Perhaps we can do the Beef in Barolo next ??
For anyone wanting to join in the recipe can be obtained by typing in Hung Shao Pork in the Search Box under Delia's photo.
Bought an orchid from Ikea in December which flowered til May , i then cut it down and it's now in flower again . I am very impressed especially as it was only £ 7:00 ish
As we have only one week left in August to choose the September cook along recipe I have looked on the previous threads and done a quick tally of peoples choices. It was decided to do a main dish this time and Hung Shao Pork received 5 and the Borolo Beef 4 Chicken Basque was also suggested and a number said that they didin't mind which and would "go with the flow".
Any more suggestions? If not then we will go wih the Hung Shao Pork, a cheaper cut of meat, something to take into consideration in the economic climate.
All contributions glady received.
Yummy
but i really need to find something.......regarding AOL...
Thought you might be interested in this link. All olives are bitter before being treated. Home grown olives to nibble, oh joy.

Thanks Treehugger & Dolly,
Sorry been away for the weekend & just seen your replys. The Olive is in a pot at present, will look out for those tablets & I've been advised to feed seaweed extract. Just a bit concerned on how to prune, maybe a trip to the library is called for.

Taken DQ's advice and put this on here so it doesn't disappear too quickly.
All suggestions welcome for a recipe.
Not had one for absolutely ages............anyone fancy it now the Summer is nearly over?
How about thinking towards September then we can all have a good think about a recipe until then, and all September to try it out??
For the Newbies, we gather in suggestions as to what recipe we want to try out and then decide on a recipe. During the month i.e. September, those who want to take part , try out the recipe, and report back noting any changes or substitutions made in the recipe (for instance those who are abroad not being able to get the ingredients) and how they felt it went, Some may take pictures then these are submitted to DQ for inclusion in the cookalong web album. Hope this makes it clear but if you have any questions please just post them on here.
Yummy :0)
my 3 red pepper plants are now huge bushes, and every time I think there are fruit buds at last they turn out to be more leaves, I planted some yellow seeds last week and they are already over 1 inch high.
I thought of feeding the big plants, but was told by a neighbour not to until they flower ( if ever )

A Beautiful World, lets keep it so.
There are angels in my garden
I see their faces in the trees
And hear their gentle chattering
In the rustling of the leaves
There are palaces above me
Splendid towers in the sky
They’re here one moment, then are gone
As great white clouds roll by
There are wondrous seas around me
Not blue, but gold and green
These are the fields, where food is grown
And where no fish are seen
Just take a look around you
See beyond the here and now
The birds, the bees, the butterflies
And all the beauty that they show
For they may not be forever
Unless we take the time
To realise what we have right now
Is totally sublime.
We need to stand and take a look,
Avoid the making of mistakes
Ask what things matter to our world
And see the difference each could make
Our World is fragile, beautiful, no other like it seen
In all the wondrous universe she floats calmly and serene
But for how long can this be so……
………No one can ever know
So, please, give a little thoughtfulness
Before you cast your things aside
Ask could they be re-cycled, used again
And then do your bit with pride.
Does anyone have any experience of growing these. My son bought me one for my birthday in May. It now has little olives forming but I don't think they will ripen as there is no Sun to speak of, but it is growing shoots really well. What should feed it, I know I will have to "cuddle" it up for winter. Any thoughts welcome.

I know coriander can sometimes be a bit tricky and suddenly decide to bolt; I was very disappointed in some seeds we sowed. Kept them in the shade, etc. etc. In a very short space of time they had all grown quite leggy with magnificent flower heads. Checked the seed packet yesterday and discovered the seed is specially for growing your own coriander seed for cooking. DOH !
I bought some seeds last year Broccoli Romanesco, which I did't plant, someone told Ime they tasted like Asparagus.
I have just bought some small plants from the site I mentioned before Fentollolan, and I ordered
the same thing judging by the picture, they came and are a Cauli caled Novana. Can anyone help, and has anyone seen these in the supermarkets, farmers markets etc. Has anyone tasted them? Just curious as I will grow them anyway. LHxx
Baby, If you look on this page you will see the sunflower print we just bought, We love it!!!

Hi;
I'm trying to make a bracelet by stringing beads onto elastic thread; however all of the knots I have tried are slipping! All of the sites I have visited have suggested reef knots held with a little glue; does anyone have any other suggestions for knots I can try please?
Thanks!
Just want to say how much I have enjoyed growing and eating my own veg this year. I had never grown vegetables before this year but am amazed how easy it is. Also how great when i need vegetables for dinner to just walk to the end of the garden and pick. The taste of them is just awesome
Already planning next years and digging out an even bigger plot
Anyway just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying myself!
Help! I'm a novice veg gardener and need some advice. I have just dug up my carrots and they are twisted and curled. Other than that they looked fresh, orange and smell like they should. I think my soil is sandy loam. Any suggestions? witty vic
My slow starters are a lot happier now there's been some sun, the small one is about 3ft, and the big one I have just measured at seventy-two inches which is six foot! It has a flower about to open, three more at the top and another bud down the stem. I've lost the seed packet so can't remember the name, but they are the dark red flowers with black centres. Anyone else still got them?
Chuffed Bramble xxx
It was a false alarm, the buds were yet more leaves
there are 100s of leaves some as big as my hand!!!

I sold a picture this morning at our Watercolour Exhibition being held in the Village Hall.....£20. Really chuffed. Dottie Mayx
Just found this site, not sure if it has been recommended before:

Not got a garden yet but i can dream!
Well, my LOH dug our potatoes up that we'd grown in an old dustbin and I have to say, I don't think they were worth the effort. Taste wasn't as good as the Charlottes I buy in Waitrose nor did we get that many. Quite disappointing.
Think I'll stick to growing flowers from now on...

HI everyone i've just been reading about your pepper plants and was wondering do you get the seeds out of the pepper and use these to grow the plants? and would i be able to grow them now or is it too late ?
i'm very new at this but am willing to try .
This is the first summer that I've had a small veggie patch. So far, I've done sugar snap peas, courgettes, toms and baby sweetcorn but these will end soon and I'm wondering what I can grow over winter. So far, I've thought of garlic and pak choi - does anyone have any other suggestions espically as I have a small area - Thank you!
