Morrisons have this in stock, it is on the same shelving as tomatoe passata andthe pesto sauces.
I bought a chicken today with herbs on. It also has stuffing in which I did not notice until I got home. I want to cook it in my slow cooker. Will the stuffing cook O.K. or should I use my conventional oven? Thanks for any info..
I so looked forward to reading Delia's recipes in the Telegraph Colour Supplement. Normally, I just pass over their recipes because they are always in metric only. Delia always said that she would use only British measures. It is so disappointing to find that she has abandoned Imperial in favour of foreign. I see that she has also gone metric on the new TV programme.

At short notice had 3 friends for Dinner the other evening. Everything done in under an hour. Duck & Port Wine Pate, Melba Toast plus salad trimmings. All bought (Waitrose).. Main course was Salmon en Croute (Waitrose), Hollandaise Sauce (packet). New Pots. 2 bags of fresh Mixed Veg. Dessert - Strawberry Gateaux (bought from Tesco) plus fresh Strawberries & Cream. Selection of Cheeses, Crackers, Celery, Radish. Red and White Wine - Coffee & Liqueurs. Selection of Choccies. Easiest meal I've put together for yonks and I didn't have to slave over a hot stove and was able to spend more time with my guests and I did tell them that I hadn't made anything myself. I wouldn't want to do that regularly as I love cooking but it certainly was a success. Dottie Mayx
Am making steak and kidney pie today with the ready-made pastry case and lid. It looks OK so am sure will taste fab. Will let you know how it passes the 'dad' test !
Haven't used these things before, only the puff pastry.

... to get the How to Cheat Book. After doing the Caribbean Chicken on Wednesday, especially the salsa, my sister and one of my cousins have been out and got The Book. They had a peak at mine while visiting and so hopefully they will be Cheating like mad soon.

The Delia way.........
welll..I am so proud!!!!
Am having a dinner party in a couple of weeks and am doing the Spanish Pork dish for main - what can I have as a starter - one person does not eat fish or any kind so garlic prawns are out. Thought of doing a selection of tapas style, but didnt want anything too filling or too expensive. Though of garlic mushrooms but may be a bit boring - any other ideas?
We had this for dinner tonight with a few tweaks:
1. I cut the chicken up into small pieces (did the same with the chicken basque recipe)
2. forgot to get the grapes & used sliced lemons instead
I seved this dish with boiled new potatoes but OH said he finds boiled potatoes boring so might have this with rice or pasta in the future.
Can anyone recommend a topping which would turn this into a chocolate brownie gateaux. Waitrose sell this at their fresh cake counter at £1.19 a slice!! The topping is delicious, but the brownie is rubbish. Delia'sversion is much better plus one I have picked up from a friend - just needs the topping. Many thanks.
Made this tonight for the children and it has been a great success. The weather has changed and all these one pot warming meals are what we shall be after now.
So easy and tasty. My daughter did her first cooking class at secondary school and so we had posh fruit salad with it, passion fruit and papaya grapes and pears- went with it really well.
I made this last night. I had a friend coming over for dinner (after a full day's work), and although I had planned the starter and main course (and bought the ingredients), I had given no thought to the dessert. So I took How to cheat and found Fast fruit brulée, which was done really very quickly and it tastes delicious. Try it!

Here I am again and see that other people are still having tomato frito trouble! I asked for suggestions about 6 months ago (simple ones please) as it really is no longer available and is a lovely cheat's ingredient.
P.S. Re beetroot - my parents used to grow beetroot as we do. My mum's recipe, which I still use and everyone says how lovely it is, is 5 fluid ounces malt vinegar and 1oz sugar. Heat together until dissolved. Pour over cooked beetroot. I store it in jars throughout the winter and it is delicious. I also make up a large quantity at a time and store it in bottles, so you don't have to do it everytime you cook the beetroot.
Sorry for another thread on Chicken Basque. I made this last night & it was delicious! In fact, OH told me that he would prefer this to paella. Instead of cooking the chicken breasts whole, I cut it up into smaller peices & I follwed Nenna's suggestion and used cider instead of wine.
On a related note, I would like to ask, what would be a good substitute for Heinz Tomato Frito? I was scouring Tesco a few days ago & they did not have it on stock.
Many thanks in advance!
Can anyone suggest a substitute for Seasoned Pioneers African Tsire powder. (West African groundnut stew) I can't find it, and don't want to buy a whole set of spices from Lakeland.
Be grateful if someone can advise

This looks lovely but sadly my husband doesn't like lamb.
I was wondering if anybody had tried it with pork (possibly the fillet). Anybody think it would work?
Are you Cheating outside the UK - how do you fine it - I can get quite a few of the ingredients here or good substitutes - the one thing we lack though is ready made pastry cases. I have done about 35 of the recipes -great book.

My talented husband has just made Vietnamese beef patties plus cracked potatoes with melting cheese & spring onions, with green salad. Deeelicious! The red wine served with it was great too.!
.We have a new listing in the Cheat Product list for small shops around the country that are stocking cheat ingredients. Kendrick Street Deli in Stroud. Full details can be seen by clicking on the Cheat logo, then Product list, then small shops and delis.
Saw this recommended a few days ago, hadn't tried it so bought in the ingredients at the weekend. had it tonight and it is very good and doesn't take long to put together! I used cider instead of white wine and it worked perfectly, will definitely do it again.
As you know, Delia uses the aunt bessies frozen mash in a couple of the recipes in the latest book. its about £1.70 for 650g. I suspect Delia chose this brand over others because it has not nastry ingredients, its just how you would make mash at home.
Well, when Mum was down, we went out shopping. She did her usual of insisting we visit every shop within a 20 mile radius.............

Hi Sunlover,
Sorry for not reply to your query straightaway as I have been busy.
With regards to the mozzarella in the festoni w/ smoked sausage recipe. I just used grated mozzarella- the one sold in packs. I just sprinkle it on top of the pasta, add some grated parmesa and bung it in the oven for 20-25 minutes as per Delia's instructions.
Hope this helps & apologies again for the late reply.

Did this last night. Dead easy and tasted fab!
Has anyone tried making this? I did for dinner last night and OH liked it very much. I used Matheson's smoked sausage in place of the chipolata or kabanos, worked well with the Dress italian sauce. Instead of festoni, I used conchglie.
Am planning to stock up on more dress Italian sauces and I'd heartitly recommend this dish!
