Following your question about what to do with glut of peppers, and me telling you what i had done with my red peppers.

Your comment after my thread, sent me into a total mass of panic and strife.....

I sought friends advice about my making of my peppers in oil, and i filled the jars right to the brim of the jam jars.....But i still was not happy and still worrying - so i spent hours browsing the tiniterweb, and decided......

to chuck the whole lot away, it was a shame, as I had nurtured my seeds, and lovingly water them, to grow into some magnificient beasts.

The only waste was the olive oil (which was quite expensive) and some jars......and i feel awful as i actually put the jars straight into the dustbin....

I just couldn't bear the thought that i might be harbouring a deadly disease.

So thank you for your warning.

Sammy

oh what a shame - it's sad to waste food at all, but especially stuff you've grown yourself.

But better than getting ill.

The same warning shoud be heeded for garlic oil ... some folks think they can put cloves into olive oil to flavour it, but no ... same warning applies ... it has to be cooked (oil and garlic together) to be safe.

If anybody is thinking of doing anything like this please research first ... there are loads of link on goodle which will tell you how to do it safely.

There was a big breakout of botulism in Canada not so long ago, and this was the cause of it.
