I watched Delia on TV last night and she used frozen chick peas. Unfortunately Sainsbury's where I shop do not have them online. Does anyone know where I can find them please? Fed up of boiling them for hours and them still ending up like bullets!!!
I always use tinned ones.

Alfonsa - do you put salt/stock poweder in with the chickpeas when cooking them?
Salt will stop them (and all pulses) cooking properly - salt should only go in right at the end of cooking time.
Itsa Tesco own brand product, but I use tinned too.

Yes, that's right it's not a good idea to put salt in, which i don't. I've used some really good chick peas from Spain called Asturianas which cost a fortune in the deli shop, but the type i get from Sainsbury's are tougher. Spose you gets what you pay for!!! I'll have a look in Tescos too!!
My local Tesco has them. Tinned are good too.
I've stopped cooking my own as frankly, apart from the price, I find no difference whatsoever.
My Morrisons (bet you didn't know I owned a supermarket) have an asian bit at the end of one of the aisles and I tried some brown chick peas last week. They were cheaper, bit smaller, a reddish brown colour and I thought they were nicer than the normal ones I buy. The coconut milk is cheaper from the Asian shelf than if you walk ten feet to buy the famous brand one.
Use tinned.
Tesco do frozen

what's wrong with tinned chickpeas ? They keep whole and still have a nice texture.
oh i miss these, my local tesco's used to sell them but then they were discontinued :( so annoying when they do that!
Soak 500g at a time for 24-48 hours, then cook them in a pressure cooker for about 25 minutes. No salt, add that when you cook a dish with them. Job done and you can freeze the surplus. Also no tinny taste.
